Mary Weiss, the previous lead singer of the legendary lady group Shangri-Las, has died on the age of 75. The information was shared by Miriam Linna of Norton Data, the label that launched her solo album, Harmful Sport, in 2007. “Mary was an icon, a hero, a heroine, to each younger women and men of my technology and of all generations,” Linna mentioned in a press release. Rising up in Queens, Weiss and her sister Elizabeth “Betty” Weiss joined twins Marguerite “Marge” Ganser and Mary Ann Ganser to type the Shangri-Las in 1963.
